Nothing is impossible! The mountains welcome everyone … We encourage families to go on a winter holiday together, children and young people to enjoy their independence on the slopes, students to go away with their friends and individuals to travel independently or join up with a group.



Ski 2 Freedom passionately believes that taking part in snow-sport activities is not only wonderfully therapeutic but it also greatly improves self-confidence off the slopes too. We want you to experience the exhilaration, joy, challenges and freedom of the mountains.



Skiing For People With Learning Disabilities

Down’s Syndrome, Autism, Rett Syndrome, intellectual learning difficulties, Cerebral Palsy, Educational and Social behavioural difficulties…. However minor or severe a learning disability is the mountains in winter are there for everyone to enjoy!

Ski 2 Freedom understands that an individual's specific needs is vital to having the ultimate experience on snow and a good holiday.
 
Ski 2 Freedom works in close partnership with many ski schools to ensure that we can identify which ones and which ski instructors will work best with a child or adult who has a learning difficulty.
 
The right equipment is also very important - many children or adults with a learning difficulty have a problem with balance and/or an associated orthopedic problem often with their feet.  This means that it is essential to have good fitting ski boots and someone who understands about carrying out any adaptations that might be required.
 
We can also share information on ski schools and resorts which we feel offer an excellent source of ski instruction and activities specifically relating to the conditions and Syndromes which can cause some one to have a mild or severe learning difficulty.

Hazel Oak Special Needs School, Ski2 Freedom Foundation and the ski resort of Montgenevre all meet for the first time in France to give a group of pupils with learning difficulties and autism their first ski holiday and an opportunity to help young people to a better future.

Ski 2 Freedom maintains that the mountains have a healing quality - well it certainly seems justified when one sees the results of what happens when a group of teenagers With learning difficulties and daily challenging disorders arrive in the mountains for the first time and leave confident and aware that this experience will have given them life-changing opportunities!

"I think I want to work in a ski resort; we have learnt about new food; learning a new language; meeting new people". All of the group said they want to return next year they all felt that it had changed their lives and one could see the difference this trip had made.
