Best Pamper Weekends for Wheelchair Users
Everyone adores a good pamper, from a sports massage to alleviate those aching joints to a pedicure to pretty those feet. Yet many spas have yet to move with the times, providing pamper weekends for wheelchairs users.
This maybe because the Spa has increased in popularity over the last two decades with hotels adding the facilities as an afterthought and thus setting up shop in a basement! We’ve done a little digging and discovered Spas that understand wheelchair users need R and R too. Here are our favourites:
Senspa New Forest Hampshire
The Senspa has thought of everything and promises to give a great pamper weekend for those using a wheelchair.
From the outset you’ll find you’re given a ground floor room which then gives you access to all of the facilities without ever navigating stairs or a lift.
Your room will have wide entrances, grab rails and plenty of space to manoeuvre then once you’ve settled in you can visit the spa to see what they have on offer.
If you book in advance the staff will make sure you have someone on hand to help, from relocating treatments to ground floor rooms to operating the hoist above the swimming pool. They will also extend your treatment time free of charge so you don’t feel rushed at all.
They have designated staff members who are trained in lifting so no one misses out of the range of fabulous treatments on offer.
Finish with a meal in the Zen Garden Restaurant, where you can watch the world go by at your leisure.
The Warner Hotels
These hotels are adult only and have adapted their facilities to ensure adult wheelchair users enjoy the peace, tranquillity, romance and spa at hotels across the UK.
When booking let them know you require disabled services and they will ensure you receive a room with handrails, wider doorways, ample space, lower mirrors and sinks, levers and extra space around the bed.
Warner Hotels are keen to confirm that where possible they have ensured disabled access is provided however they’ve yet to provide disabled changing rooms in any of their leisure suites.
As the rooms are so spacious, we may forgive them for this as many of the hotels also provide disabled toilets throughout the hotels not just in the designated rooms.
Celtic Manor, Wales
Celtic Manor has adapted all facilities to accommodate wheelchairs, from spa treatments to the pool. They have even developed their gym, 9Dylan’s Gym) to incorporate disabled equipment that you can use.
A weekend retreat here will see you feeling thoroughly revived and refreshed, we recommend trying out their vibrating pillows!
For those hard of hearing they also have hearing induction loops for many of their services, they really have thought of everything and they’re affordable too!
If you’ve enjoyed a Spa weekend that exceeded expectations, let us know where!
