Braddan Bridge House; A Jewel in the Isle of Man

Braddan Bridge House was designed from the start with the disabled guest in mind. The £44K + room facilities are the most modern and comfortable you will find anywhere. We understand the needs of the less able visitor and can assist in every aspect of holiday life including support getting about the island. The rooms can be equipped with either hoists and/or raising beds and all our shower and bathroom facilities are wheelchair friendly. There are also full wheelchair capable lifts between the floors. We have disabled staff or trustees within our foundation who themselves face the differing requirements of our visitors and have helped in the design of the house and our rooms. Many are bikers injured in the TT who ensure the standards of care are the very best.

Braddan Bridge House

Braddan Bridge House consists of 3 self-contained wheelchair accessible apartments over 2 floors, offering 3 star, luxury self-catering accommodation with the very latest mobility aids and equipment. The property is rated Accessibility Level 3 and designed with the disabled user in mind, with all the little details taken care of from low level check-in counters to height adjustable beds.

Bedrooms

There are three apartments - 3 bedroom, 2 bed room and a 1 bedroom. Each has sufficient space to manoeuvre a wheelchair. The bedrooms in each apartment are all fitted to the same high quality including top of the line height-adjustable Wissner-bosserhoff beds that are complete with ultra-comfy, pressure-relieving mattresses for a wonderful night's sleep. There is an accessible lift to the top floor with the lift controls at accessible height.

There are electrically adjustable twin beds with bed rails in each bedroom with underneath bed space for the portable hoist. There is also an adjoining room for carers, with put-u-up bed available for that unexpected guest. There is even an air mattress and 2 Mobile Hoists available (own straps or harnesses required) which you must request whenever you book. Additional bed sheets, duvets and towels are always available on request.

Bathroom/Shower Rooms

The shower rooms are all wheelchair accessible with grab rails, easy access to wash basins and ample wheelchair turning space. There is space for left transfer to toilet and all facilities are at accessible height. There is a room for carers in the apartment shower room and portable shower chair.

Kitchen/Dining

The kitchen and dining areas are all wheelchair accessible and should you decide to cook up something tasty, the cutlery and counters are accessible. There is sufficient access to dinner tables or you can dine in the living area where you can sink into comfortable sofas.
If you do not want to watch TV and have your laptop with you then please enjoy our free WiFi facilities.

Please note that there is no hoist available in apartment 1 and we also recommend that due to the configuration of this apartment we would discourage people with a higher level of dependency from using this unit.

Getting to Braddan Bridge House

Once you get off the ferry at the Isle of Man Sea Terminal you need to find the TT course. It's best to ask a local or drive due west. getting a Taxi is always the best option.

Visitors should follow signs to Peel or the TT course. This will take you out of Douglas (past McDonalds Restaurant and the Fire Station on the left) and you come to a double mini-roundabout. Go straight on (west) here - you are now on the TT course!

You can now refer to the map on the left: Braddan Bridge House is at the end of this first straight - you can see it over the fence at the next roundabout - but you need to take the right-hand road and go up towards the school. Before the school, on the left, is a road which leads into an estate called the River Walk Estate - take this ( it only goes one way ) and follow it back on yourself until you come to the JDF House just before the bridge. It is the only red house and is well signposted.
