The Old Farmhouse/Self-Catering

The Old Farmhouse offers top quality, self-catering accommodation and has been awarded FOUR STAR GOLD STATUS. This cosy cottage has been carefully restored from an eighteenth century farmhouse to its current, award-winning status. The farmhouse sleeps up to 5 guests and offers spectacular views to the South of the Countryside.

Wheelchair Accessible

We have designed both Grindon Cartshed and The Old Farmhouse with our disabled guests in mind, both internally and externally. The Old Farmhouse has been granted EXCEPTIONAL STATUS under the National Accessible Scheme for wheelchair users and 4* under the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence Scheme. The bedrooms are spacious and are all on one level leading into the the lounge and dining area which opens directly onto the balcony where the views are spectacular! Each bathroom has en-suite facilities, with wet rooms and pull-down shower chairs.

Grindon Cartshed/B&B

Grindon Cartshed is a beautiful barn conversion that operates as a B&B between Easter and October and as a self-catering accommodation for the rest of the year and sleeps up to 6 guests. The lounge and dining areas have floor to ceiling windows which offer spectacular views over the Tyne Valley.

Disabled Friendly

The Cartshed offers Level 2 mobility accommodation and has 3 bedrooms, sleeping up to 6 guests. The accommodation has been awarded a Green Tourism Silver Award and 4 stars Silver from Enjoy England. Of the three bedrooms, one of them has M2 status and the cottage itself is ideally suited to part-time wheelchair users, elderly guests who can negotiate a fews steps or are accompanied by a carer. The bathroom has en-suite facilities, with one designed for guests with mobility difficulties. The wet-room has level access to the shower and there is a grab rail to the right of the controls.

The area is steeped in history and is also perfect for nature lovers walkers and cyclists. Popular attractions here include Nenthead Mines, Blanchland, Corbridge, Keilder Forest and of course, Hadrians Wall.

The nearby Langley Dam is popular for fishing and horse racing fans can visit the racecourse in Hexham. You can visit our local farmers' market held once per month or why not book a wool craft day where you can learn the skils of spinning or peg-loom weaving? Accessible vehicles can be arranged for hire if you need to get out and about or you can ask the staff about local pathways that are wheelchair accessible.
