Merton House Hotel is a tastefully decorated, 22 bedroom Georgian property.All the rooms in the main house have en-suite bathrooms and all the bedrooms on the ground floor wing are wheelchair accessible, with some rooms offering garden views from the patio. All our bedrooms have been fitted with an Aid Call system that allows guests to contact staff in an emergency.

We have 3 newly refurbished ground floor rooms with en-suite shower/wet rooms for our guests who are full time or part time wheelchair users.

Our lounge overlooks the gardens and is a great place to relax, have a drink or meet new friends. It is very warm and cosy and at night time it comes alive with the different forms of entertainment we put on for our guests. At meal times you will be dining in our spacious and grand dining room where you can enjoy delicious meals served up from our kitchen.

Day Trips

We are located in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and there is so much to see here. You can choose to do as much or as little once you arrive. You can relax and read a book in our Gold Award winning gardens or you can get out and about for some sightseeing, a popular choice with our guests. For a small fee, our specially adapted coach will take you out for the day to see the sites and all you will need is your camera! We also operate a door-to-door transport service with specially adapted vehicles for an additional cost.

Merton House Hotel is a beautiful Georgian house located in the pretty market town of Ross-on-Wye in the lovely Wye Valley. The Views from the garden of the River Wye and the Black Mountains of Wales are spectacular.

I desperately needed a break but i did not know where to start. I was given the contact details for Disability Holidays Guide and what a breath of fresh air they were! Marcus took my detais and said he would get back to me and true to his word he did. He recommended Merton House and i have to say it has been the best holiday of my life! Merton House is truly a special place. Your every need is catered for and as a fussy person, i have to say that this place has left me speechless! It was just perfect! The rooms are cosy, the food was fantastic and the staff are so welcoming and could not do enough for you. I went in October and i have since got back in touch with Disability Holidays Guide about trying somewhere else but in the end, no where could match Merton House so i have rebooked for August and my friend, who i have been singing your praises to, has decided to come along with me as well! My parents, Audrey an d Ernest (Ernie) Dockray and my self all enjoyed our week stay at Merton House. Nobody could do too much for us. All of your staff were polite, helpful and above all they were cheerful and always ready to help out if needed. The rooms were beautiful and again catered to our every requirement in terms of disability aids etc. But most of all we were so pleased with the quality of the meals at Merton House, with regular meal services at such a high standard to better any of the hotels we have stayed in previously and again, catered for the elderly diet.  The cheesecake and sherry trifle were definitely a firm favorite! The entertainment provided brightened up the autumnal evenings and we laughed and sang until we just had to go to bed. The day trips in the Merton House van were informative and again we felt safe and looked after at all times. With the added benefit of the option of transportation to the hotel we could not have been more pleased with our stay. Well done everyone - if you have a sudden influx of bookings from Leeds I am sure that will be my parents spreading the word about your beautiful facility. See you next year - more than once I hope. Many, many thanks. Carol, Audrey & Ernest Dockray
