Park House Hotel Aims To Give Everyone A Choice

Park House is a country house hotel specially adapted for people with disabilities, travelling with or without their carers or companions. Care and assistance is available from an in-house care team. The hotel is able to accommodate and care for a variety of disabilities and requirements. All public areas and the 16 main hotel bedrooms are wheelchair accessible. The hotel is graded 'Exceptional' through the National Accessible Scheme. Our Award-winning Hotel enables disabled guests and their carers or companions to have a holiday or period of respite together in the Norfolk countryside and is operated by the charity, Leonard Cheshire Disability.  By providing as much or as little care as required, Park House aims to give everyone a choice. Park House Hotel is set in an impressive Victorian country house, within its own grounds amidst soaring trees and rolling parklands of the Sandringham Royal Estate in West Norfolk. The hotel boasts an enviable country location, with easy access to the market town of King's Lynn.

Park House Hotel has been equipped to the very highest of standards. All of our 16 bedrooms (8 single and 8 twin) are ensuite and each is provided with TV and radio, a direct dial telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.
 
The main reception rooms and all bedrooms have been refurbished to a high standard and our spacious Conservatory area provides a popular meeting place at the very heart of the building.
 
Throughout the hotel lifts, ramps and automatic doors provide wheelchair access and all bedrooms/bathrooms have been specially equipped, some with overhead hoists and electronic controls to doors. The bedrooms incorporate leading edge technology beds, designed to accommodate specialist needs. Arjo jacuzzi baths are available.

- The extensive grounds at Park House are fully accessible and include a terraced patio, raised flower beds and wheelchair paths leading through woodland. A heated outdoor swimming pool with Arjo hoist is available between May and September.

Pre-Arrival 

• Prior to arrival all guests and/or carers will speak with a member of Reception and/or Nursing staff in order to confirm requirements and general suitability of Park House.

• Bookings are processed upon receipt of a completed Reservation form (available in large print if required). Bookings are then confirmed in writing specifying details of terms and conditions relating to payments and deposits. 
 
• Good bus and train links serve the King's Lynn (local town approx 8 miles away) and Sandringham area - accessibility should be checked with individual services. There is a bus stop 250 yards from the hotel. The hotel can assist with arranging collection from main line rail/bus stations by a local accessible taxi service.

All meals may be cut up for ease of eating, food may also be pureed/thickened if needed.

• Security lighting is in operation at night and on front and back terraces, there are no WC facilities outside. There are varied sitting out areas throughout grounds of hotel, all in accessible locations. Organized escorted outings and trips to local areas of interest are available including transport.

Bedrooms 


• All bedrooms accessible (furniture may be moved for specific requirements), some rooms with overhead tracking hoist, other mobile hoists available, all electric raising and lowering beds (twins and singles only), recliner and armchairs available. Flat pile carpet in all rooms. 
 
• Lighting in rooms may be tailored to individual needs individual call bell system, integrated fire panel, guests notified by staff to evacuate if required. Most rooms with digital flat screen, remote control TVs. All rooms accessible including second floor via lift (recently replaced in accordance with disability guidelines regarding contrast/colour/braille symbols etc). Tea and coffee making facilities available in rooms, kettles are corded, mini-fridges by prior arrangement

Grounds and Gardens 


Paths, extensive gardens and sensory areas wheelchair accessible with level paving, further accessible paths planned and seating area overlooking the cricket pitch has been completed. Several areas throughout gardens have accessible seating areas. Water feature with protective barrier.


Additional Information 


Evacuation procedures explained upon arrival - staff to alert guests individually for hotel evacuation if required, guests remain in rooms/public areas unless informed/assisted otherwise. 
 
• Ongoing staff training relating to infection control, moving and handling, also NVQ training in Care for majority of Care department. Experienced care team on hand 24 hours a day.
 
• Assistance dogs accepted - grounds available for exercise.

Throughout the year an optional programme of excursions are organised to the unspoilt countryside, coastline, nature reserves and stately homes that surround Park House. With the Activities staff and a fleet of adapted vehicles, every guest has an opportunity to explore the West Norfolk area during their stay. The Royal residence at Sandringham House is adjacent to the hotel and is also a popular destination.
 
King's Lynn, a bustling market town with excellent shopping facilities, and the charming seaside resort of Hunstanton are both nearby. The historic cities of Ely, Cambridge and Norwich can be easily reached and day trips are frequently arranged to the famous Norfolk Broads

This tariff includes full-board on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, half-board applies at other times.


All rooms in the Main House are en-suite; Single rooms with walk-in showers and Twin rooms with bathrooms.  Additional bedrooms, with shared facilities, are available in the adjoining Coach House, which are discounted by approximately 50% off the relevant Main House tariff. These rooms are not wheelchair accessible.

Bed & Breakfast is available in all rooms at a reduced rate of approximately £15.00 to £16.00 per night off the standard tariff depending on time of year. (Lunches and evening meals are available at an extra cost).

Light lunches and snacks are available in the restaurant for guests and non-residents every day between 12.30 p.m. and 1.45 p.m. (chargeable). Please make an advance table reservation if you would like lunch on the day of your arrival or departure.  Non-residents are requested to make an advance reservation.

Our Care Packages are designed in order for you to choose the package that most suits your requirements.  This will enable us to meet your needs and ensure continuity of care during your stay. The reassurance of a quality service gives security and confidence to guests and peace of mind to carers, family and friends. Care Packages are outlined below and are provided by our in-house care team.  We are unable to provide one to one care, however a Registered Nurse is available for any relevant issues. Please note that we are unable to offer nursing or personal care to guests under the age of 18.

Equipment

We would advise you to bring your own electric wheelchair and battery charger. If this is not possible, please indicate on the Guest Information Booklet that you will receive with your confirmation letter.  Please also indicate any other equipment that you will require during your stay. We will endeavour to fulfill your request, but may contact you to discuss further.

Minimal Care

This package is for the guest who is generally independent, but requires occasional or minimal help at times during the day:  £25.00 per day

Daily Care

This package provides ongoing daily support with personal care:  £73.00 per day

Meal Support

For guests who require one to one support at meal times:  £34.00 per day (commencing 2.00 p.m. day of arrival and ceasing after breakfast on day of departure).

Bathing/Showering

For independent guests who would like a Jacuzzi bath or shower with the support of care staff:
£25.00 per bath/shower.
