About Our Short Breaks and Holidays...
Solway Short Breaks organise holidays for people with mild learning disabilities & their carers. We provide an interactive itinerary of fun & escorted daily activities based around the Solway Coast in Dumfries & Galloway.
Affordable breaks are for 3, 4 or 5 night stays at a quiet & peaceful seafront Guest House located in the sailing village of Kippford which is free from crowds, traffic and noise and is run by your hosts Vanessa & Don Taylor.
Itinerary
Our holiday itinerary includes local short walks with treasure hunts around our picturesque and quaint old sailing village of Kippford or go crabbing from the 'Wee Pier' right outside our house. In the neighbouring Victorian seaside village of Rockcliffe there are beaches and many rock pools to explore. Then there will be fascinating small animals, like parrots and owls, to meet at a wildlife park, deer to feed from a trip in a 4x4 vehicle at the nearby deer park, then you could make your own chocolate creation at the chocolate factory or paint your own pots at a pottery.
Meals
Breakfast and evening meals are included in the tariff and will be taken
together, and sometimes as an activity cooked together. The large dining room seats 12 persons and is where games, quizzes and movie nights will be held in the evening to entertain everyone. Carer Only Respite Breaks
At Solway Short Breaks we recognise the need for carers to benefit from a break as well and as part of our services we are providing dedicated respite breaks for Carers Only during the off-peak winter/spring period from November until April (Excluding Bank Holidays)
Our unique location on the sleepy, stunningly scenic Solway Coast is ideal to take a restful and relaxing break from your carers responsibilities. Free from the hustle & bustle of crowds, traffic and noise, Rosemount can provide that all important tranquil respite you need. You may wish to just take the day at your own pace, or there will be daily activities available to See & Do for you to participate in along with other guests.
Your break can be taken on your own, or bring a friend, a relative or another carer. No need to worry about being out & about or going to dinner on your own or feeling isolated, our Carer Only breaks allow you to be part of a group of like minded people where you can share the relaxing experience and friendly atmosphere of our Guest House.
Your break will mean no cooking or cleaning throughout your holiday. You will have access to the house and your room at all times. Please see the Accommodation page for details of the house & bedroom facilities we offer.
